Well, after many requests from friends and family, it's time to remove the curtain and reveal the wizardry of the Britt Burger. What is this delectable delicacy you may ask? It's not for the timid. It's not for the in-shape. It's not for vegetarians. It's for the Tubbies of the world. If you crave tasty ground beef fortnightly.....this is the burger for you. Here's what you'll need.
3 large fresh jalapenos, seeded and coarsely chopped
1/2 cup plus 3 tablespoons coarsely chopped cilantro
3 large garlic cloves, smashed
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
2 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon ground cumin
Liquid Smoke and Worcestershire Sauce and Kosher salt
1.5 pounds ground sirloin
4 ounces pepper jack cheese, shredded
freshly ground pepper
4 poppyseed buns
olive oil
mayonnaise
musliex (mixed lettuce greens)
granny smith apple, sliced into thin toothpicks
pickled jalapenos
tomatoes (optional)
1. Blend jalapenos, 1/2 cup cilantro, garlic, lime juice, water, 1/2 tsp cumin plus big
pinch of salt. Puree until smooth.
2. In medium bowl, lightly knead sirloin with pepper jack cheese, 4 tablespoons cilantro,
1/2 tsp cumin. Shape into four patties and season generously with salt and pepper. Sprinkle several drops Liquid Smoke and Worcestershire Sauce
Brush cut side of buns with olive oil.
3. Grill to Britt Morris perfection(I like medium rare). Grill buns until golden and crisped on the edges.
4. Have fixings ready, muesli mix (mixed greens), thinly slices sticks of granny smith
apples, mayo, tomatoes (optional), and jalapeno-cumin sauce to spread generously. Enjoy.
You may be questioning the apple slices. Don't. I promise you won't be disappointed. At the very least, it will be better than the burger mentioned in this story. Please note disgusting Krispy Kreme burger in photo to the left.
